seeing things through kids' eyes

My mom often sends me quotes, places, people, things, stories, etc. via instagram or pinterest. The volume of these messages has definitely increased while I've been traveling :) I absolutely love it because I feel we aren't as far as we are and they are always helpful, inspiring things.

Last Monday when I was at the Montenegro airport, she messaged me this:

"Children get up in the morning and they're excited, because they don't know what's going to happen today. And you and I too often wake up (already) bored because we think we do."         - Marianne Williamson

GOLD! I love this so much! It reminds me of how much we can have in our heads- problems we are making up, things we are stirring over, expectations that may or may not be met. Whereas, kids, are present. Living and reacting to what is not what may or will be.

Upon reading this quote, I had a very long travel day: bus from Kotor to Podgorica then 3 planes through Belgrade and Athens before arriving to Santorini. It was nearly midnight in Belgrade and this little boy, no more than 3, came running over to where I was sitting. An advertisement board would change by flipping every few seconds or so. Every time it did, he grinned ear to ear, jumping up and down, clapping of excitement. He was so HAPPY!!!

I smiled and laughed so much with him and played peek-a-boo around the airport. When I went to board the plane, I was lucky enough to serendipitously be placed next to him and his mom! He brought such joy to me and all of those around me. I continued to see things through little kid's eyes and it brought an entirely new perspective. Try it :) Let me know what you think!!

PS- I wish I had a video to show just how happy this kid was, however, imagine the movie Elf times a million and you're there :) xx
