innsbruck, austria: reflection
Innsbruck is one of the most amazing places I have ever seen in my life. As you come out of the train, the alps surround you in the most surreal backdrop way possible. As you wind through the old streets and colored houses, you are taken aback by this beautiful town at the bottom of the mountains.
On my first day in Innsbruck, I took the cable car to the top of Nordkette. The ride on its own is incredibly stunning as you climb up the steep mountain's side. Upon getting to the top, I arrived at the "chill out area," which is essentially a bunch of chairs you'd see at the pool lined across the edge, overlooking the alps and the city. It was a jaw-dropping experience!
I walked into the igloo bar, Cloud 9, which is my favorite number and expression!!! A DJ played amazing music from a top the igloo and I sat for hours on a chair with my prosecco watching skiers/snowboarders and meeting people throughout the day. It was such a great vibe! I never wanted to leave. The sun shined down on the mountains as paragliders swept through. It took my breath away!
I had two great dinners in Innsbruck, as well. One at Your Placel where my quesadilla came with surprise guac and fries (yay) and the second at Olive, a vegan/vegetarian fair-trade and local restaurant with an amazing pineapple veggie burger! I stayed at an Airbnb for the first time this trip and was greeted by the nicest host, a quiet nights sleep and a chance to catch up on some blogging and planning. Great r&r in the most beautiful place imaginable. <3
